The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced significant updates for the 2025–26 board exams for Class 11 and Class 12 students. In response to educational disruptions over the past few years, the syllabus for both classes will be reduced by 10%, focusing on essential topics and easing the academic load on students. Additionally, the exam format will undergo a transformation, with 40% of the exam paper consisting of objective-type questions, particularly in core subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. This shift aims to assess students’ understanding and application of concepts rather than rote learning. Moreover, the CBSE has decided to give more weight to practical learning and project-based assessments, highlighting the importance of hands-on experience and critical thinking. Practical exams and projects will now play a larger role in the overall evaluation, especially in subjects like Science and Social Science. The board has also set the exam dates: Class 12 exams will begin on March 1, 2026, followed by Class 11 exams, which will start on March 15, 2026. These changes reflect a more balanced approach to assessment, aimed at better preparing students for both academic challenges and future careers.
